Fantastic tale, let's hope so.
I used to have an issue regarding having an inferiority complex, I no longer have an issue with being inferior.

What a great find, I hope it does turn out to have a royal connection. Another piece of history unearthed by our great hobby :g50:

Very very unusual story to say the least! says he knew it was gold when he dug it up but " I looked down in the space and found it was a ring. I thought nothing else of it at the time and put it in my pocket" who in gods name digs up a solid gold ring COVERED in inscription and thinks nothing of it  I would be having kittens!
Swing till you drop...... if in doubt - DIG IT!!

I said exactly the same thing Mike! The comments just didn't add up! Having previously detected a posy ring myself, you know immediately it's high grade gold!
One comment seems to contradict the other!
Anyway, still a magnificent find all the same :g58:

According to that article it is dated 9th to 15th century and could be connected to Catherine Parr who lived in the 16th century :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha:

A great find though a real shame they didn't say what is written on it, I guess we will have to wait until the treasure inquest being reported or the PAS report when it goes public.
I have become comfortably numb

i help run the down to earth digs organised by keiron, i was on the dig when steve found the ring and to be honest i dont think it really sank in what he had found at the time, the ring has been in quite afew papers now and and has got a little twisted here and there, even to to the stage of calling him chris lol,i think they are jumping ahead on the owner of the ring tho, it was found next to 1 of henry 8th homes so u never know , time will tell, as for the inscription , nobody has managed to translate it yet as they are struggling i hear, its def worth afew grand and gl to the lad,so lets see what the experts come back with :).
