Another great field gone!!

Post by prittstick »

Well heres Gooner standing next to a huge pile of green waste about to be spread on a 100 acre field that has given up over the years finds from Celtic through Roman , Saxon , Norman, Commonwealth, medieval and to the present day...Gutted!! Why is it still allowed? Its absolutely full of crap from plastic to needles and razor blades and nails and foil and shredded aluminum...Another great field gone...
I have emailed the farmer to hopefully open his eyes a little but its curtains soon for this field on the South Downs!!
Is there a flyer that anyone has done that we can print and send to all of our farmers before its too late?
Its fly tipping on a grand scale and should be illegal. Dig a big hole and bury the crap! :g44: :g44:

That is a real shame :g44: I was in the East Midlands a couple of weeks ago and I saw some being spread out over a couple of large fields. Afterwards I went past and I could not believe the amount of large pieces of plastic waste I could see lying on the surface it was everywhere :g45:

Same happened to me last year, heartbreaking. We are, soul destroying as it is, slowly clearing it out as at least the plastic doesn't give signals and just looks bloody awful

Awful. Finds aside, all that work removing scrap metals, often toxic, only to have loads more bunged in. :g64:

What can you do? this kind of madness if approved by the EU and they even go as far as to subsidise farmers who spread it - one of my farmers actually favours this stuff over the 'paper pulp' and only because of the economics! It is indeed a sad state of affairs when the EU actually control what the farmers plant (three crop rotation...) and what they spread over their fields.
Swing till you drop...... if in doubt - DIG IT!!

Hi Omega, yes I've heard about the three crop rule .
Another peice of EU madness!I know a farmer who has always grown 75 acres of Spring Barley
and now he has to grow three different crops!! And yet they subsidise mass fly tipping!!
I,m going to suggest we write to our MP, s for what it, and they, are worth!
Easy to do online. :g6:

Simple economics I am afraid. Farmers need to make a living. Some allow detecting, whilst hoping for a result with a nice find or two. Many are not really worried by the effect green waste has on detecting, it's not high on their radar.

You can report it to the Environment Agency.......although your farmer may get a bit miffed.

Not a green waste issue but a human pooh similar waste issue.
