Almost any other hobby/sport requiring access to someone elses land involves a fee. Maybe the hobby has had it free for too long? It certainly makes a difference if (as a club) you speak to a landowner and offer him ££`s for a weekend. Nothing wrong with it as a revenue stream for farmers in my boo...

The general attitude of the farmers at the Farmwatch group was understandable and inevitable. After speaking at the local Farmwatch meeting about legal and illegal metal detecting the general feeling from the farmers was that why should they have to decide good from bad.
