interesting thing to check... i asked about some ridge and furrow fields round here, but they are in fact scheduled. farmer is allowed to graze sheep on them but thats it..

what was interesting was the jacobites lined up at the top of a relatively steep slope. and the government forces at the bottom. they aimed their muskets at a point on the hill, but when the highlanders charged (completely naked). the point they aimed at was a dip in the hill... when they re-emerged...

I'm a scot (tho live in South east now, but did a lot of detecting in Scotland. there are no flo's in Scotland. everything you find with the exception of Victorian and modern coinage, is declarable. as for permissions, there are very many scheduled monuments dating bronze age to 20th centu...

bedforshire police have been very pro-active too, littlebloke and myself were observed 3 times on a permission early one sunday morning. and a number of locals have asked us who we have permission from... happy to answer, and happy they are that observant
