Victoria Cross to be sold.
This is my Mother-in-Laws great uncle. She is not a happy bunny that the family are selling the VC and I have to agree with her. There were reports in virtually all the national papers the other day and according to my Mother-in-Law the newspapers got one fact slightly wrong. Apparently, Private God...

Re: Detectorists against Green Waste Campaign!!
Had my NCMD newsletter through the post this morning.
There's quite a large article on the green waste issue. I'm glad the audience for this problem is growing.

Re: Detectorists against Green Waste Campaign!!
I gave up on a farm last year after this Green waste was spread over all the fields. There was masses of Aluminium, stainless steel spoons, forks etc etc. I always remove any lead or other scrap from the fields, so to see this mass littering is heart breaking. As for health issues, who knows what l...

Re: Looking for a detecting buddy in Essex!
The permission will come, as will the finds. Took me quite a few knock backs before I got my first farm, just don't give up. I found doing a bit of research on the intended farm worked wonders. Taking old maps with you or details of crop marks in their fields helped win me permission. If you haven't...

Re: Looking for a detecting buddy in Essex!
Hi Terry, is the coastline near Bradwell detectable? I seem to remember it being quite muddy? Would be a cracking area with the Saxon church and Roman Fort just the other side of the sea wall. Only problem would be the old bombing range, just off the coast on Western side of power station, you don't...

The Nikon L120 is half price at Argos at the mo, seems a good deal at £130?

Re: Mick Aston quits Time Team
I don't think that Mick Aston's views on metal detecting should detract from his archaeological expertise. After all, Time Team is not a metal detecting programme. Having seen Ms Ochota in action, albeit only three episodes, it goes to show that Qualifications alone do not an expert make. Experienc...
