Re: Open Dig - Harpswell, Lincolnshire - Sunday 20th March 2020

Several folk couldn`t make it for various reasons but our days out are never about numbers, they are far more social than that! There was chocola...

Re: Anglo-Saxon coin found by metal detectorist set to fetch £200,000 at auction

Seems "odd" that its not listed on the forthcoming auction.
Rumour suggests that somebody in the "seller/launderer chain" is associated with another dubious coin as well.
This Baldred penny rang a lot of alarm bells as well.

So people can compare the coin to a genuine silver penny of the moneyer BOSA...... personally I don`t think the gold coin looks anything like the silver penny.

One dealer in particular (MV) has certainly backed up the suspicions related to this coin with some thorough facts and comparisons. :g43:

Strange that one dealer has a time & date stamped image on their phone from a couple of months before said coin was "found in a field".

Re: Metal pollution hide British treasures forever

I was asked by a dairy farmer to run my detector over a lorry load of bedding for his cattle, it was full of signals, he said there should be no metal in it, but it was full of the usual alloy fixings from kitchens etc. The problem is the farmers love it for bedding down the cattle as it is cheaper...

Passed unopposed.

No detecting unless part of an archaeological excavation.
