Grateful for an ID on this lovely gilt button found in Ledbury, Herefordshire; appears to depict an archer with some Latin inscription, thanks, Andy.

Re: Livery buttons

Wow Dave, that's just fascinating - to tie it down to a local family is superb - with your permission can I pass it on to the Charlton Kings heritage group - they may additional local records that may help tell the story associated with this otherwise overlooked button find :g38: :g38:

Re: Rare Roman-era coin found in field near Carlisle

Yes, nice story - could probably work it out but the article doesn't actually identify the coin (other than denarii of civil war period) unless I missed something,

Re: Livery buttons

The first and fourth quarters are definitely for the Biddulph family, as is the crest, so Dave is onto the correct family. Just need to sort the second and third quarter arms, which will most probably be a spouse. Possibly this chap https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Biddulph,_1st_Baron_Biddulph...

Re: Livery buttons

Found this today, the corrosion may hinder any ID; found on the Hereford/Glos border near to Ledbury if that helps. Thanks in advance, A. A "wolf salient" crest and an "eagle displayed" on the 1st and 4th quarters indicates that it's probably a BIDDULPH family livery button. I'l...
