I have only glanced through the magazine a few minutes ago, but, it looks to be up to its usual very high standard.
Later on I will read it properly, in the meatime, congratulations to all involved, and thank you.

Re: Transport Museum relocating.
I am actually old enough to remember one of those vans. A man who lived oposite us in Dovercourt, in Essex, (for the benefit of you lesser mortals), owned one. and use to deliver veg on it.
God, I feel old

Re: Hoard finder did not have permission!!!
I would like to know, does anybody on here know this person ?, and if you do, why not ask him/her to come onto the forum, so that they can give us their version of what transpired. I am sure that Admin would welcome any constructive information which came from it. Many will feel that there has been ...

Re: Hoard finder did not have permission!!!
Of course if they seized his detector for , then he wouldn't be in quite such a hurry to do it again either. Karv, your point, "going equiped" is the essential thing here, and the point on which ALL honest detectorists will argue until the end of time. We all know that the find was handed...

Re: Hoard finder did not have permission!!!
Having regressed from wishing to birch the offender I have an idea. Hoard gets valued (lets say £20,000 for arguments sake) and the finder would have received 50% but, as he had no permission (for whatever reason) he receives a nominal reward of £50 for handing it in. The balance of his 50% is writ...

Re: Hoard finder did not have permission!!!
Obviously there is only one perspective that you can see, a lot of perfect people on here it seems. The guy did not compound his error of judgment by hiding the fact , which in my eyes is to be applauded. Your points and standing have been clearly made, and it does make me wonder what good your par...

Re: Hoard finder did not have permission!!!
I do not believe that folk are "over reacting", as you put it, there is a pretty much general feeling about what transpired when the man went out with his detector, he done the wrong thing. Nobody so far has accused him of not handing the hoard in, nor would they. Finally, by posting rema...

Re: Hoard finder did not have permission!!!
Ok I said I wouldn't respond but I will lol, Trespassing is not a 'major' crime so if he is found guilty of trespass then he'll probably just get a 'warning' ...... wow, big thing.... when he found the hoard he 'handed it in' so he did the right thing!= he handed it in..... he didn't steal it and t...
