Call me old fashioned but I thought that Medusa had snakes for hair, not hair and a pair of wings on the side of the head, that was reserved for Mercury the messenger. Still a brilliant find though :g50:

Having briefly been on my local church committee, it was a surprise to find out that all expenses for insurance and repairs etc have to be met by the local parish church/people, the actual owners contribute absolutely nothing, but insist it is done! That's one of the many reasons they are so rich.

To me, that was made in the 18th century probably using a Roman intaglio and sold to 'Grand Tourists' of the time, who had the money to buy such things.
