Re: Phew what a Roman ring!
Wow what an amazing ring - almost does not look Roman, especially with that modern looking hair style, at first I thought it was George V1

Re: Hawks ahoy
Yes I agree totally with Kev - responsible and experienced detectorists should be used on these vulnerable sites, to record all of the finds and then I would suggest the sites are seeded with small round steel washers or the like :g50: Then signage displayed at the site to say all historical finds h...

Re: Not my sovereign but you need to see this one
The guy had just bought a Deus 2 and a Nox 800 so that more or less paid for them and then some I would say :hahaha:  Not sure why he would want a Deus 11 if he has a Nox 800 :g43: One machine for him the other for his wife, it was her that found the coin, not sure which machine was being us...

Re: Large Scottish hoard news
Amazing find, although not sure why they have shown an image of an Edward 1 groat!!! (one of the rarest coins in English history!), I doubt very much if any of those were in that hoard of Edward 1 penny's? That's journalists for you though!! As long as they can get the word 'Treasure' and 'Worth a F...

Re: This is very bad news for PAS!
In this day and age with good quality digital photography I do not see why treasure items cannot be held by the finder, until it is decided if it is indeed treasure, or if a Museum would like to acquire the item, then hand it over. That would save an awful lot of hastle sending things back and forw...

Re: This is very bad news for PAS!
It's just unacceptable. these items are being handed over in good faith and expecting them to be looked after. :g48: :g51: I totally agree with you Keith - why on earth do they not have secure, proper safes to store these treasure items? I am not even sure that these treasure items are insured and ...

Re: gold coins found in a cow bone on show
I was quite pleased at the time Pete! :g42: I wasn't on the forum back in 2003, but I did do a write up for The Searcher mag and there was also one done by Chris Rudd the coin dealer for Treasure Hunting mag. I have the mag articles somewhere, so if you want, I can send a copy :beer Love to see tha...
