How can those who have items going through the treasure process check to see if they are affected by the thefts? Is there someone they can contact?

The fact that the associated documentation has also disappeared points to an inside job. Will the finders and landowners still receive payment? In my opinion they should because it was the responsibility of those retaining the items to insure themselves against losses.

Surely those receiving potential treasure items are obliged to give those submitting items a receipt and should be insured against losses.
