Yes' I remember that Barry, and an excellent job you did too. I'm sure there was a thread though that had a link to where you could buy one on the internet....old age setting in mate :g58:

My mate knocked a couple of these up out of some scrap MDF and it suits small compact digital camera's. For Dslr you might want to scale it up a bit.
The base plate is A4 size (roughly 20 x 30 cm) The little tripod head is from manfrotto, but anything that holds a camera will do.

I like that PaulR, I picked up a Hobbycraft light box for a £1 from a charity shop the other day. Thinking of using it as a back light for the copyboard, which is currently a box style picture frame. This removes shadows from around the object being photographed. :g43:

There was something quite a while ago where they used an old photographic enlager like this one but binned the enlarger unit:

As we are on the subject, I've been playing with my Canon 450d DSLR for finds pictures. Just using the Kit lense 18mm - 55mm at the 55mm end and about 10 cms from the end of the lens to the object.

I've started with an old box picture frame, £1 from a charity shop.

Added a couple of "L" brackets and a wing nut and bolt.

You can either replace the backing board with tinted card or remove it completely or as I've done added a light box from Hobby Craft using Gaffer Tape. Cost £1 from a charity Shop or about £8 from Hobby Craft.

The idea is to remove any shadows around the object edge.

The box just sits on the leg of my tripod, you often find a tripod cheap in a charity shop. :g37:

Using an adjustable head off my monopod I've extended the reach of the tripod mount. You may find another method of attaching the camera so that it sits over the frame, approximently central but pointing downwards.

To top light the object, I either use the built in flash, a flash gun mount on the camera or the flash gun on a hot shoe extenstion cable to highlight from the side.

Pound coin with back light and built in camera flash, note these last three are right out of the camera and just converted and file size reduced for posting with NO edge cropping.
