It is quite amazing that the wood has survived and appears to be the same as when it was lost all of those years ago.

As an artistic woodworker for my day job (when not detecting!) I often work with Bog Oak, which is a fantastic material to work, the Bog Oak I use has been radio carbon dated to 6,300 years old and I sometimes imagine stone age man climbing the Oak tree that my 'wood' has come from. One of my Bog Oak Stingray sculptures below.

Absolutely love that axehead with shaft but I wonder why they felt the need to outline the footprint that they found? Looks terrible!! :d :g48:
Professionally aimless wandering.

What a fantastic find, and the bog oak stingray is superb.
I used to have an issue regarding having an inferiority complex, I no longer have an issue with being inferior.

That stingray is amazing, what a talent you have.
Just because you are not paranoid, it does not mean that they are not out to get you

I think the outline is the "rubber solution" that they put in to make a cast, the outline is just a guide to where it is.

Thanks Baldric - each piece I make is a labour of love. I am so lucky that I can make a living out of something I love doing.

Thanks Brian - below is one of my Kingfisher sculptures made from English Yew, the Kingfisher has been stained blue and then been sealed polished and waxed. The post it sits on is natural 'pippy' Yew. All of my work is sold through a few galleries mainly situated in the SW. I do not do any direct sales (this is not a sales plug) or do any commissioned work.

I suppose I am semi retired - but don't tell the wife that :g45:
