Armed police Gatecrash yorkshire searchers dig

Well i thought ide seen it all till today on yorkshire
searchers midweek dig at north duffield today.

After getting everyone to park up on the a19 layby
i showed everyone were they could detect and on which field
after a hour of me walking around chatting to see if anything
had been found i headed back to my car while everyone was detecting

One of our forum members terry from york decided to walk over the a19 to bring
his car closer to the dig he parked his car just at the back of mine we had a chat
then he went out to detect again i was leaning against my car pouring a flask of tea

And all of a sudden With all blues flashing 2 police landrovers and 2 t5 armed responce volvos blocked the road in front of me and about 6 police men run towards me it was like watching miami vice shouted and surrounded me have you seen a man with army clothes on and a farmers flat cap on
i sald no he shouted weve have been informed a man which looks like him there in the field
crossed the a19 with a hand gun in a holster strapped to his leg

I sald eh so the police men all asked me to escort them across the field to the
to show them it wasnt a gun at all .... IT WAS A GARRETT PINPOINTER

The armed police were shocked to here we all had one and they were out numbered

The Armed policeman i was talking to sald a member off
the armed forces was passing in a vehicle on the a19 east bound and had reported a man running across the a19 to the direction of our field The DISCRIPTION was -he had a flat cap on and he was wearing light sandy camoflage trousers and a green jacket and had what looked like a small hand gun hanging from a holster at the mans waist

I have been wondering how long it would be, but was not thinking gun. At a quick glance they resemble a Casco, (the modern replacement for a truncheon). I am always concious of this when I go out with it on my belt.
