But that is just what his namesake did when he went hunting for treasure near his home.
Bartholomew Simpson, 37, unwittingly came across the Second World War relic encased in mud in while metal detecting in woodland in Benfleet.

That's not far from me
A 20mm canon shell hardly needed the bomb disposal people to be involved.
I remember when one of these was found at a rally a few years ago. Someone
snapped it in half, tipped the cordite out and set fire to it.
It certainly made our FLO jump
