It was a discovery most archaeologists could only dream of making once in their career. For Tom Lucking, it came during the first year of his undergraduate course at the UEA.

Cracking find... the jammy beggar!
He must have been torn as to whether or not to keep his half of the reward though
I mean, as a 'Treasure hunter' he wants the filthy lucre; and as a morally upright guardian of Britains history he must have wanted to donate his half to the museum
Some ex-pat's will be furious

As an archaeologist, Tom would probably have waived any reward if this was discovered on an official dig.

I was told that anything found by an achaeologist on an official dig has no monetary rewardmeandmydreams wrote:As an archaeologist, Tom would probably have waived any reward if this was discovered on an official dig.
as this is a condition of being on site and being an archaeologist per se.
