Oh dear. Major players at each others throats? Not good!
Professionally aimless wandering.

Thats the second court case running.
The fall in some manufacturers sales must be giving them some concern.
2017 will very likely bring about a some more changes detector wise.

Re: Minelab to sue XP over patent
Codan knew what they were doing. See the (potential) breach, let the sales go through the roof, bang in the court case, with tens of thousands of units sold even a modest fee per unit would be a huge bill for XP.
So, if proven, it leaves XP with a choice....settle out of court & pay a "licence fee" for future sales or see what the judge says. Unlikely to be the latter in the US!
The XP link with the pseudo-Deus gold machine possibly rattled Codans cage on the lucrative Gold market in Africa & similar.**
**Please note all subject to due legal process & no assumption of guilt made by me, thats for the court to decide!

How can such a patent stand? Sounds like desperation to me.

Re: Minelab to sue XP over patent
Well is will be interesting to follow this one and see what happens. But I suspect we will never know as I don't think it will ever go to court. Will XP try and defend it in a US court?
The legal costs alone would be massive never mind if they lost.

"JBM, very interesting? I heard that a few years ago that it could be a possibility?
The Minelab brand would cease to be and the new "Scion" or whatever would just carry on with the acquired technology and whatever innovation they would bring to the table? Sounds like a win-win situation should it ever happen?"

"Sold their hobby line off" not Gold line, it's the Gold line that's made all the money.
