Watch as an illegal hare courser’s car seized by police is crushed at a Lincolnshire scrapyard today. Maybe this should be extended to nighthawkers' vehicles..................

Sounds like a very good idea to me to crush the vehicle and the detecting kit at the same time.
Certainly better than a fine and a slap on the wrists.

I saw this on the evening news, I would have thought putting them through auction and using the money for a charity or the NHS would be a better course of action

I think it is the very public display of it and the humiliation that is the point here. A bit like being put in the stocks back in the day............now there's an idea................

Rather than crush their car they should dress-up up as rabbits... and give um a 50m head start on the dogs.
Now as for Nighthawkers ... set aside an acre of land per hawker ... which they are forced to dig by hand ... and they have 20 days in which to do it.
Sometimes the simplest solutions are the most effective.
