Haven't seen one for ages..
Where have they all gone ??
Believe it or not I have been stopped and questioned twice by the police while detecting, checking up to see if I have permission and taking my details including my vehicle registration calling them in on there radio. To be honest I would rather they did this more often as I have nothing to hide, last autumn was the last time I experienced this....
Well said, the police do a great job, just now and then one will get it wrong.
I used to have an issue regarding having an inferiority complex, I no longer have an issue with being inferior.

In answer to the question, "Where have they all gone", I would suggest a couple of reasons.
Firstly very bad under funding of the emergency services over far too long.
Then came somebody's wisdom that, by having a supplementary force, know as
community support officers, a huge amount of money could be saved. What happened?
they were introduced, and following 14 weeks training were let loose on our streets,
WITHOUT any power of arrest, and a salary of 14k.
Special constables had for a very long time, unpaid except for expenses, worked alongside
the of a police officer, regulars, with FULL powers when on duty in uniform.
Taking the same risks as a fully trained police officer.
I was there and did the best I could, eventually being rewarded for good work, which
I will not go into, I chose to do, and have no complaints about that, what annoys me
is the inequality of employing substitute officers, who do now have the correct level of
powers at the expense of having fewer full capable women, and men on our streets.
I would be interested to know the views of any serving officers on the sunject.
I used to have an issue regarding having an inferiority complex, I no longer have an issue with being inferior.
