That is the one which Mail online stated was valued at £15000, and was found by
amateur treasure hunter, (and naming him). Just goes to show how wonderfully
inaccurate some of the media can be. Good luck to Brian.
I used to have an issue regarding having an inferiority complex, I no longer have an issue with being inferior.

Not quite sure how the Mail was expected to accurately predict the hammer price ... that said they were closer than the guy who valued his founding fathers coin at a £1,000,000 and ended up trudging home with a miserable £5,000.

A beautiful coin and as always its what a person is prepare to pay for it.

I have seen copper coins fetch 5 times that figure.

As a lucky finder its all the luck of the draw. :g50: Jerry.

 That's a really special gold coin, in such pristine condition as well after all those years in the earth ...

:g58: The news of this find and its sale must do some good for our hobby [and at the same time counter the recent bad publicity of the "unscrupulous policeman"] ...

Any landowner who gets to read [or find out in other ways] about this superb find and how the proceeds from the sale were distributed can only shine a positive light on the importance and magnitude of such historical [and valuable] discoveries ...
