That is the one which Mail online stated was valued at £15000, and was found by
amateur treasure hunter, (and naming him). Just goes to show how wonderfully
inaccurate some of the media can be. Good luck to Brian.

Not quite sure how the Mail was expected to accurately predict the hammer price ... that said they were closer than the guy who valued his founding fathers coin at a £1,000,000 and ended up trudging home with a miserable £5,000.

A beautiful coin and as always its what a person is prepare to pay for it.

I have seen copper coins fetch 5 times that figure.

As a lucky finder its all the luck of the draw. :g50: Jerry.

Yes luck definitely is a major factor ... but generally its a fact that Great sites = Great finds.

Any landowner who gets to read [or find out in other ways] about this superb find and how the proceeds from the sale were distributed can only shine a positive light on the importance and magnitude of such historical [and valuable] discoveries ...
