New club in Somerset.

Post by the-roman »

A new club is created with old friends who are second to non. Our club members are what metal detecting is all about, comradery, freedom of speech, love of the hobby, fairness and respect for other people and their opinions. Good honest and open discussion is what a good club is all about. Many of our members have helped on recovery missions finding lost rings etc for people.
We had our first club dig today and although there was not much in the way of finds, it was a great success. New club badges were handed out, a raffle was held to pass on those unwanted xmas prezzies and a good old chin wag to start the day off. As we already knew each other the conversations were flowing effortlessly with plenty of good cheer and humour.
The club is not run by a single person, it is run by all club members with each and every one having a positive input and all helping out as and when they can. A truly fantastic bunch who would make a welcome asset to any club.
And what have we called ourselves and how did we arrive at the name? well, everyone put forward a name for the club and a poll was started. It got down to the final three names with the most votes going to the final name. As we are based in Somerset, and Somerset is the old Saxon kingdom of Wessex, the final name for the club was created.
We welcome you all to the Wessex Searchers MDC….
We will be holding our own club digs but will also attend other open digs and rallies on occasions so we will all look forward to meeting up with friends both old and new.
Cheers one and all and Happy Hunting. ::g

I realise it's the "dry" season but to be at the ready for soonest opportunity have just de-mothballed mine and Sue's detectors. We would love to meet up with a club of likeminded detectorists. We are mid-way between Bath and Wells and only have detecting permission on a dairy farm in Wanstrow, Yes I know, if only we had detected on a few farms away! Not sure how to send a private message but would like to know if we could, in the first instance, meet at one of your club days out?

All the best
Ken & Sue

Congratulations to all of you with this new venture.
I used to have an issue regarding having an inferiority complex, I no longer have an issue with being inferior.
