Re: Michael Wood on the Galloway Hoard
Thank you for that Phil, it just goes to show how much thoughts are changing, in favour of the proper use
of metal detectors, and the recording of finds made with them.
When read as individual discoveries the finds, although looked upon by us detectorists as exciting, and in
the "I wish" bracket, we later almost forget about them, and then along comes a report such as this one.
It immediately brings back to the fore, what we have been saying for years, that members of the general
public, sometimes by eye only, but more often with the aid of a detector, do make an enormous
contribution to the understanding of our great nations history, leading to what became the Great Britain
we all love.
The more often that such praise is forthcoming, the stronger our relationship, with ALL other factions will
become. Thanks must also go to the author of the report, Michael Wood. Thank you sir.

I used to have an issue regarding having an inferiority complex, I no longer have an issue with being inferior.

Nice chap is Michael, worked with them on the "History of England" TV series, he sees it as a useful tool, when used properly and responsibly, in the same bracket as geo-phys or a trowel!
