The finder looks like he stole it with that sock on his head.

It will have been disclaimed after the coroner declared it treasure :g50:
Hi Kev ...

I am still a little confused - I haven't been able to find any reference to the coroner being informed nor the disclaiming of the item ...

Even on the finders Facebook chatter he only mentions he passed it onto the FLO ...

Then nothing heard - This was the main reason I am questioning why it could be allowed to go to the auction.

If it was disclaimed - Well that too really surprises me, surely it is an important historical find which would be of interest to a museum?

Just had a look on the PAS for the ring as would imagine it has now been recorded by the FLO but cannot find it? Does anyone have a link to it on the PAS please :g50:

Normally Treasure cases aren`t published on PAS until they are concluded, eg: Disclaimed or purchased. They sit in a dark & secret area! :g42:
The FLO will have sent a report to the coroner supported by the BM etc.
However it is the finders duty under law to notify the coroner within 14 days.

it is possible that the item went to the TVC, was valued and circulated for acquisition. If nobody could, or wished to fund it then it was subsequently disclaimed.

Page 142 for the process flow as should be...... have some bed time reading. :g62:

:g50: Thanks JCM ...

Is there anywhere to view the TVC Valuation or the circulation details and the final decision to disclaim? or is this also hidden away somewhere?

Without some form of information of this kind - It means there is no "public" audit trail to show that treasure is not being leaked direct to auction ... Hence my original confusion.

Here is the PAS record Click Here scroll down to 'subsequent actions' it states that it was declared treasure and disclaimed, then sold at auction :g50:
