My name is Chip Kirkpatrick and I do historical metal detecting as a hobby. I live near the Florida / Georgia state lines and recently I found a thin flat object that appeared to be a can lid. But I noticed a bail coming from it and opted to investigate. It was heavily embalmed in dried muck but when I cleaned it I could see there was engraving and it was very tarnished.
