War Grave
Simila techniques used to the exploration of the 'Field of the English' at Culloden. The Government casualties (many of whom were from Scottish foot regiments) were buried in a mass grave. The location of this was found by tracing the geophysics results and a scatter of artefacts such as buttons from the area around the probably grave. One interesting find from that search was a continental coin from a decade or so later than the battle which may have been dropped by someone visiting the grave of his old comrades.
If this war grave is exhumed to allow the dead to lie with their comrades in the formal military cemeteries I hope they find some identification for the individuals - there are many thousands of men with 'No known grave' (my Great Uncle, killed at Arras in 1917, among them.
