Posy;
Several centuries ago, the Europeans became rather taken with what we would class as an engagement ring, but was then called a Poesy Ring. This ring was given to a loved one as a form of promise, and signified fidelity and love. The Poesy Ring was offered as a pledge of eternal togetherness, much as today's engagement rings are offered as a promise of eternal marriage.

There is book called "English Posies and Posy Rings" by Joan Evans. It
lists about 3000 inscriptions.

The language used in many early posy rings was Norman French, with
French, Latin and English used in later times. The posies were
originally written on the outside, moving to the hidden inside of the
ring in later (mid 16th Century onwards) times.

Posy rings were popular love-tokens. They were inscribed on the inside, so the message remained secret to all but the wearer and giver.
