Old currency worth calculator

Saw this on twitter and thought it was interesting. :g50:

So an Edward I penny had an equivalent worth of about £63 in labour in AD 1270. Bet they were miffed at losing them then, especially purse losses!

Thanks Tom but I don't really understand why the Real wealth or buying power was £3.64 for a penny in 1270 but the Labour Value is £63.28? Can you explain?

As I suffer from dyscalculia I can't make head nor tail of it. :g45:

That makes finding hammered coins even more interesting knowing what they equated too back then, and something I have often wondered about :g58:
