OPEN CS Dig Sat 2nd Dec

Post by GillEvans »

Hi all

Just to let you know we have a dig this Saturday 2nd December in Cambridgeshire

The site has been deep ploughed since our last visit and has now all been cultivated down, some areas have had 2 passes with the cultivator so are fairly flat other areas have only had one pass so are in disced conditions.

This is one of the clubs favourite sites as it usually produces something nice but the field is huge so finds do not jump out the ground, as always they have to be worked for.

This was a farm we obtained in the early days of Central Searchers, it produced some rare and outstanding finds, including some silver Celtic units, a full and a quarter Stater, a guinea, Denari, Bronze Age tools, a Viking brooch, Saxon stirrup mount, a stunning dagger pommel 3 sceats etc.

We usually get a few hammered coins from an area around the old pond.

If you are interested in coming along then please email us for full details and directions at centralsearchers@ntlworld.com

Hope to see some of you there

Gill
