Good read that, especially the evacuee, my mum, dad were both, Dad went to torquay and loved it, but my mum ended up in Barnstable and hated it , Grandad came and got her back, and they put up with the bombing, Nothing to do with detecting but i thought i would mention it! Mum and dad used to tell me some stories, but definitely true! about those days, we can never imagine what it was like for them kids , my mother still tells me of a dog fight with a German and English fighters pilots, she and grandad seen over Bristol one early evening, with tracers flying every where, she could hear them zinging all over the place.

anyway thought i would say something a bit relevant.

My Dad was evacuated to our family in Scotland from Croydon after a V1 hit the row across the street, my gran decided that was a bit too close for comfort.
