I have just bought one to get me into the activity, bench test is a good start,I still get readings from wine bottle tops which is a pain on the beach.I think i might upgrade to a better model in the future when I have a little more experience.

Well I have been using my Garrett 250 for a few weeks now and I have found on the Beach down here I use All Metal Mode and notch out the top 2 bars near the iron end and then set the sensitivity 4 bars down from max, that way it cuts out a lot of annoying iron on the beach but still find loads of junk plus the odd coin, not had chance to use mine inland as I have no land to dig but you could use the same settings and just use higher sensitivity, don't be tempted to notch out Ring Pull as many thin gold band rings that I have tested come up as ring pulls, also getting used to the tones is a very good idea as I have been finding out, so until I have worked some inland digs I cannot help an awful lot there but if it's simple Loot/Cash Only you want then try Custom Mode and notch out everything other than what is in the picture below.

hi, as many have said before good little detector I used to detect in relic mode mainly but just watch the sensitivity, you get it too high and the machine starts giving loads of false readings
good luck
all I have to do is find whatever is hiding there below my feet
