Clay
Hi everyone, being a newby can I just ask the pasture fields I detect in as about 9in of soil and then clay , am I right in thinking there will be no targets to find in the clay . Big thanks

David is quite right, however, when the clay is reached is where often items will have come to rest.
9" is quite a shallow depth at which to find the clay level, indicative of not too much imported top soil.

I used to have an issue regarding having an inferiority complex, I no longer have an issue with being inferior.

I have only pasture land permissions. I just love clay. It is where the goodies usually are.

One of my favourite finds was a William and Mary halfpenny, found at a depth of about 18" resting flat on the clay level.
Condition was quite pleasing.

The Surrey Weald is full of clay and is generally and disspiritingly very quiet
