First Detector for a small woman

Hi everyone, I am looking to buy my first detector and am thinking of the Garrett 250 (after hours of looking at all the different makes). I am 5ft 2 and slight build do you think this would suit me size and weight wise, I am looking for something fairly light. Or can anyone recommend anything. And any recommendations on where to buy? I dont want to buy off ebay but am happy to buy second hand at any reputable outlet.

Just to say this is not a sexist question in any way I just know my own capabilities and dont want to buy a heavy machine that I get fed up with Also I live inland but visit my relatives often who live in Maryport (coastal) so would the Garrett be suitable for both areas, I have researched but just want experienced views please, looking to spend about £200.

Most dealers now sell detectors which can be supplied with a shorter than usual shaft. I use Regtons,
there are others.

Whereabouts in the country are you? If there is a reputable dealer within travelling distance, I would recommend that you give them a visit so you can handle the various machines.

If you are looking for lightweight around the £200 mark I would suggest the Tesoro range is a good place to start they are very good detectors and the control boxes are very small and light :) But I would,nt rule out e-bay if your after a bargain :g58:
