Regarding the "lion one".......
I think the statement on UKDFD... "A likely candidate for this button is that of the Lovaine Family, Duke's of Northumberland." ...might have come about because of info from the Myfamilysilver website that I posted on this Forum while trying to ID that button.
I changed my ID when I realised that the Myfamilysilver info was misleading. ~ Click Here

Morning Dioz I will forward this info on to UKDFD, Thanx.
I think Kev could be on the mark with his Earl of Shrewsbury of Alton Towers ID...but with the button probably being from when the title was held by a Talbot, as those (after the 17th Earl?) with the Chetwynd-Talbot surname probably had two crests on their livery buttons.
2nd and 3rd quarters appear to be for the Marwood family Click Here There is some info on the Marwood-Elton family on Google if you want to know more - one here Click Here
If you can say what is on the reverse it should be datable

I would appreciate id please Kev.
thanks

Looks to be the Attwood family which seems to be a fairly common family around Hockley Heath according to a google search. I can't find an on line image but this button is in the Pitt Collection book
