It appears to be a Marquess of Hertford livery button.
The crest description is in the book "Dictionary of Suffolk Crests"....

Here's one for you - found in Leicestershire, but not too far from the Warwickshire border. I've had a look but can't find a match for it on your website.

The MILES family crest description fits the anchor crest on that second button...

This DUGDALE family crest is the only one I can find that's similar to the crest on that button and is also "gorged" with a coronet...

That sounds spot on - Merevale Hall is within 5 miles of the findspot, and I think if you go back far enough the land was formerly owned by Merevale Abbey.
Great i.d., thanks very much. :g50:

Not a livery button I'm afraid Alan, more likely a shooting/hunting button. The manufacturer was Thomas Ledsam & Sons, a British firm with operations in both Birmingham and London, was in business at least as early as 1797. The button presumably dates no later than around 1850, when Ledsam & Sons was bought out by Piggot & Co. :g50:

Here's another one from Leicestershire. The centaur or Sagittarius seems to be quite common on crests but usually has a bow & arrow, not a spear, so hopefully someone can pin this down for me (cos I'm b***ered if I can....... :g45: )

I think it's probably a FLETCHER family livery button....despite Myfamilysilver showing a very different crest pic... Click Here

Fletcher crest description... "In front of a fern-brake a centaur ppr., wielding with the dexter hand a spear Or."

Here's the reverse - apart from being a London maker it's not much help.
