Is there any thing specific that denotes the second button as a woman's livery button, such as the crest within the lozenges?
The lozenge-shaped shield indicates it's a woman's livery button... https://sites.google.com/site/liverybut ... ---lozenge

Women's livery buttons with more elaborate lozenge-shaped shields... https://sites.google.com/site/liverybut ... s---scroll

The women would have been unmarried when these buttons were worn, but most were probably on a servants uniform where the head of the household was a widow.

As well as women not having Arms on regular-shaped shields...they also weren't allowed to display a family crest.
I've read that the Queen was the only woman allowed to have a crest.
Thank you DiOz, a font of knowledge as always... :g5b:
It's very much appreciated... :g50:

Please can I have an ID on this livery button please. It still has remnants of gold guilding on it. We think it may be an early Spencer-Churchill 5th Duke of Marlborough but not sure if there was a crown above? Thank you.

I discounted that one Dave as it has the fetterlock below the lion's head, which the button clearly doesn't. This one is a hard one to pin down :g43:

The part under the lion is there on the button but it's thinner.
