Two more that might be of interest to you :g50:

Bottom one is for any of the following families Cosgrave, Goddard, Hutchon, Justine, Ketford, Quelch - there will probably be more, local research may come up trumps

It could be Stanhope of Harrington, lion looks very similar and ties in with Staffordshire

Sorry to say that you are Mitchell, as the lion is issuing out of a tower and it has an arrow in it's neck. A creditable try :g38:

It is a hard one to find as demi lions with an object in their paws is a very common crest and so far this one has defeated me :g40: The main sticking point is exactly what is held in the paws as it is not too clear. It appears to me to be a leopards head or even a human head, but I am open to suggestions. I will continue the quest, thanks for posting it up Barry :g50:

Thanks for looking Kev, All I can see is a perfect circle outline, anything inside it could be down to corrosion!

had this one tonight kev any idea who found in Wiltshire

It could be any of these names, none of which I can tie in to Wiltshire. Any of them seem familiar for your area?

Atfoe, Atsoe, Bec, Beck, Canton, Docksey, Hamer, Henry, Home, Lyons, Peers, Sheridan, Sheriden, Wren.

Hi, I found this on an 1850s Goldfield in North East Victoria, Australia. I have been told it may be a Livery button. I am new to this site and it`s my first post. I also found a group of buttons that I think are Hunting buttons., Rabbit, Fox, bird, etc.

There are many that use the "demi griffin" as their family crest, may be you can spot a local family amongst the names in this link http://www.familysealrings.com/Crests/64-2.html :g50:

Was the button found far from Caulfield? :g37:

That crest was used by the "Honourable Edward Dundas HOLROYD, K.C., of Fernacres, Alma Road, Caulfield, near Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria."

The left hand side is most likely for the Roche family (a play on words called 'canting' for the 3 roaches) from Bromham in Wilts and as it shows the hand of Ulster symbol he would have been a Baron. Still looking for the other side which will be the wife's side of the family. Some info here Click Here :g50:
