I think it is a 'mount' the falcon is on Dave not a lure as you have shown. It isn't the right family but an example is here Click Here

I thought the bird was on a mount or rocks until I found that myfamilypic pic that looked so similar to the crest on the button...and then saw that it was used by a family in Berkshire where the button was found. :g37:

Looks like the Hide family was the closest to the find area.

This one is pretty much knackered, but I know the left hand crest (dolphin impaled on a spear) is of the Horton family of Catton, and was hoping for an assist with who the right hand one (which looks like a mailed horses head) might belong to.
Found in South Derbyshire. The backmark is for Pitt, so after 1875.

The right hand crest looks to be a griffin's head couped and collared, something like the Rudd family crest Click Here although your one seems to have a ball type object in its beak. More research required :g50:

I think it's a WILMOT-HORTON family livery button.......

Wilmot-Horton, Bart., of Osmaston and
Catton, Derbysh.: (Crest 1) Issuing out of
waves of the sea ppr., a tilting-spear
erect or, headed and enfiled with a
dolphin arg., finned, also or (for Hor-
ton). 140. 10. (Crest 2) An eagle's head
couped arg., gorged with a collar en-
grailed az., holding in the beak an
escallop gu. (for Wilmot).

The crests are on the Wilmot-Horton Arms on plate 19... Click Here

"WILMOT, (now WILMOT-HORTON,) of Osmaston, Co. Derby"...... Click Here

Knowing what County a livery button was found in often helps to ID it.

Hello,

I mainly detect in Bedfordshire but sometimes wonder into the neighboring counties if that helps.
