Deffo a cloth seal and looks like it could be a griffin which is most commonly found on Dutch Community Colchester seals - http://www.bagseals.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=834 but the rest of the seal does not seem in keeping with that ID. Nice one Dconn - what county was it found in & can I add it to the Gallery please? (always better to include a ruler than a coin)

Yes - that's one of several differences which made me say it did not seem in keeping with a Colchester Dutch community seal but I have not come up with a closer match yet.
