Thanks John - it is a cloth workers privy marked personal seal. If you add a picture of the blank side I will include it on the Gallery.

It's a torn piece of a London alnage cloth seal from Tudor times (prob Elizabeth I) - http://www.bagseals.org/gallery/main.ph ... emId=34457 Thanks Tinner

You've got it upside down - the sword should be erect!!! (heraldic term you know ;) ) It's a cloth seal from Haarlem - http://www.bagseals.org/gallery/main.ph ... emId=22314. Thanks for showing it.

Phil - I think yours is a French flour bag seal similar (but not this one) to this http://www.bagseals.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=5046
