Yet another new camera!

Post by Puffin »

I've a growing collection of cameras, this morning I finally tracked down yet another one.

I went for one Canon Powershot A2300. After visiting 7 branches of Tescos Extra, I managed to find a shop with one in stock, even though they have samples on the shelves and a special offer sticker. Most had not bothered to put an out of stock label up! :-(

I paid £59 for this camera, plus a 5p off a litre of fuel at their own fuel pumps. I needed to fill up anyway, so saved a few extra pounds on the deal. http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product ... hot_A2300/

Why this particular camera you may ask? Well its hackable using CHDK http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_in_Brief Then spent a while, working out the Firmware version this is because you have to match the firmware to the hack software.

I have now extended the functions of this camera way beyond the factory spec for a Point, Press and Pray. Try shooting in RAW, HDR, Intervalmeter, Motion Detection, calendar, text reader, I can even play games on the camera, Mastermind, Tetris etc. 100's of extra functions. :g41:

I bought a Canon Powershot A2400IS a few weeks ago, put there is no hack for it yet, but I happy to use it as a pocket camera rather then lugging a DSLR or Bridge camera around.
