Thanks Phil. From Ged Dodd - "A Russian flax bale seal found at Naburn in East Yorkshire by Phil D and submitted by Stuart F Elton. I put them on here for the many enthusiasts who I know are learning to translate the Russian seals .. IDENTIFICATION GRADE EASY (when you turn the contrast up full .. twice .. LOL)
ЛД = LD / Д.Е:НАДЕЖИН / H4 /// NP / MM12Н / 1788
Obverse:- Flax Inspector D.E NADEZHIN working out of number 4 post in the port of St Petersburg, Kronstadt, Narva, Riga, Libau, Pilau, Pernau, Revel Memel, Konigsberg, Windau or Tilsit .. in 1788 ..
Reverse:- All NP seals before 1829 are flax seals, it does not mean the bales were shipped from Narva Port ( but they may have been) it means a "flax" tax has been paid.
The Grower/Owner/Agent initials are MM with 12 flax plants in the bale.
. .see reference IDS 1833 on page http://www.peacehavens.co.uk/BSINDENT1800.htm
Total bale seals on database on 25th November 2019 is 6596
Notes:- D.E.Nadezhin was the elder of this extensive family and their first inspector. He handed the reins of number 4 post over to I.Nadezhin in 1800 .. who then branched out to his own post, number 44, in 1802 until the late 1830's."

Nice. Sounds like it will be worthwhile trying to twist and clean the other side.
