My New Toy

Post by Puffin »

My new Toy for taking photographs from a kite.

I've kind of got hooked on Kite photography. Started with a home made "Rig" to carry a camera, but it was very limited, to change to angle of the camera resulted in bring down the kite and sending it up again, pain in the nether regions with a risk of crash and burn with every walk down.

So I treated my self to a kit with servos that automatically pans and tilts the camera, while the camera works in time with the rig to talk a picture every 10 secs, the camera has a built in interval meter to set time lapse photographs. this allows the rig to move to a different position between photos with out dragging the camera down to change positon. Just need the wind to blow and the rain to stop to try it out.

Be interesting to see how the delta performs.. Yes the slowforms are a known to be a good kite for Kap..
At the mo im using a powersled 24, which is ok.. I have a Carl Robertshaw that ive had for years, which is also a good kite

Where are you getting the Sutton from and what sort of price Barry, as they ain't a cheap kite..

I was thinking of the Kapshop in Holland, Peter seems to be an OK guy, he forgot a battery box in the kit order, I emailed him and within a couple of hours he replied and sent out the part ASAP. Other then that the nearest is the Highwayman run by Richard Turpin in Hinkley. He can order me a 2.0m Flowform by HQ in two days. He is about an hours drive down the A5 from me. Again, I talked to him in person last Tuesday, very nice guy and he has a good selection of normak kite in stock. I did pick up a couple of 10" Halos and a couple of 1.5mm X 1m spars for my Homemade KAP Feather. A couple of days ago I found a chap, known as Charkie, he is Walsall based, 15minutes from me. However no Kap Bits. But does the line, spars etc. So far the Kapshop is the Fav.

Found this site tonight. http://www.bill-blake.co.uk/files/Downl ... 052010.pdf

This one in B/W was an experiment to bring out some of the details in the field drains, mushroom rings etc.
