Sometimes its hard to know what you would do in an individual situation until it happens to you. The notes look burnt, not water damaged. What a waste - that's at least a new car each for me and the Mrs, iPads for the kids and a couple of nice holidays!

Perhaps it is the land owners who should be targeted and educated. If it wasn't for them agreeing to take the wretched stuff, the government would have to find somewhere else to put it.

That ring ditch in the Telegraph report - nothing to do with keeping it tidy. He probably had a lovely backhander from a muck-away company who were looking to pay a bit less than official land fill rates. No-body is THAT stupid.

Oh well, it was obviously a reasonable idea, just five years after the forum had it! I think the tent peg thing was a bit of a red herring and needn't have put paid to it, as a couple of the responders in 2008 said. Still, if he uses monster detectors and other individual detectorists have been seen...
