Re: Medieval brooch is declared treasure

Thanks for the encouragement Pete. People think I am now a Mental Defector ! :hahaha: I think sometimes in life there comes a time that after working so hard, so long and learning during all that time --- you just have to set yourself free and go and wander in body and mind! If something turns up, t...

Re: Medieval brooch is declared treasure

Thanks ever so for your help. I have just printed off a few sheets from the PAS link so I can go and have a read. (I didn't even know what P.A.S. was all about). Can I just ask, if there's anything that spoils metal detecting as a hobby? - or anything I should be 'aware' of please? The data base etc...

Re: Medieval brooch is declared treasure

Hi, Hope you don't mind, but can I ask an ignorant question please? What is the situation if a beginner, like myself, finds something like the Medieval brooch etc., but doesn't recognize it as anything and doesn't contact anyone; and takes it home without further thought. I suppose I could then phot...

Yes, of course Stirling castle too. I'd forgotten about that one, but remembered Arthur's seat. Do you know what date the tsunami was recorded?

Yes, I certainly did know that the Castle was built on an extinct volcano. I think there are a few others too. Why a tsunami and not The Flood ???

Re: Detectorists against Green Waste Campaign!!

Hi, I thought the Green Wast campaign was very interesting and thought provoking. I had no idea of these issues. Was there any further outcome regarding the campaign? You might have thought a TV prog like Panorama etc., would have done some research ? Or is this a bit naïve of me? I was wondering ab...

Re: UK Beach Detecting By PhilD

Hi Mo and Brian, Thanks for the info re beach detecting. I found it very useful and interesting. Can anyone advise if detecting on a beach; are you then allowed to metal detect if there is a tributary ? Or do you have to stop at the beach area and not allowed near the river mouth? Thanks.
