Re: Schoolboy finds Roman bracelet by chance
I hate these stories and it’s invariably a young child who stumbles across it while out walking. I used to go fossil hunting and you had the same stories, a kid walking along a beach and trips over a stone, it turns out to be a mammoths tooth or flint axe. Us poor souls trying hard to find something...

Re: ANOTHER I.D. Please?
Thanks guys for your thoughts.
It is very similar to the candle holder, but compared to the other examples the slot doesn’t look long enough and there is no cross hole either.
It could possibly be some sort of tap cover also.
I’ll let you know if I get more info on it.

ANOTHER I.D. Please?
Unusual piece of bronze. It measures approx 34mm in length. It is hexagon in shape externally, but tapers down. At the widest point it is approx 20mm and tapers down to approx 16.5mm. There is a slot in the side which is mirrored on the other side. There is a tapering hole along it's length, but not...

I.D. PLEASE?
Found this piece of bronze. It is flat on one side and peaked on the other. It measures approx 9mm in height at the top of the peak. It is approx 34mm at it's widest point and tapers down.

Re: Metal detectorist picked up by police after digging 30+ holes at medieval castle
It was mentioned in the article that it was a small criminal minority of nighthawks that were the problem and that the overwhelming majority of detectorists comply with legislation and the code of practice. The problem is that people read the large bold headlines and don’t necessarily read the whole...

Re: Metal pollution hide British treasures forever
Legalised field contamination which gets into the food chain, can't be good for human consumption in the long run. :g45: :g51: Nothing will happen until it’s too late. It’s like the pollution of our seas, beaches and rivers. It all gets into the food chain. It’s a crying shame. How on earth was it ...
