The most shocking thing for me was the very dry state of the soil. No detectorist should ever dig into pasture as dry as it was during this programme.

I've just heard that Jim Halliday has passed away. He was a real character and will be sadly missed by his family, friends and those in the detecting world.

I never met Dr Blackburn but through my lifelong interest in numismatics it was impossible not to know of him. He was a brilliant scholar, who gained a massive amount of respect through his work, and he will be greatly missed.

Yes, the price is far too high. However, if you order it through your local library them it will cost you nothing.

There is a review in the latest issue of The Searcher; other than that, this book seems to have been met with a deafening wall of silence.
