Detecting conditions were not good but I was surprised at the poor technique used by some of the detectorists - swinging too fast and not level to the ground.

Not a livery button I'm afraid Alan, more likely a shooting/hunting button. The manufacturer was Thomas Ledsam & Sons, a British firm with operations in both Birmingham and London, was in business at least as early as 1797. The button presumably dates no later than around 1850, when Ledsam &...
