Re: Yatton: A trackway to the past

Yes in my opinion a metal detectorist should be compulsory on all archeological digs these days - I cannot think of a reason why not? They would just need to tag/mark all metallic signals for the archeologists to dig out - goodness only knows how many important finds would have been missed over the...

Re: Yatton: A trackway to the past

Myself and other detectorists who went along were disappointed with the event. They had no metal detecting finds on show. I suggested that if they had asked WHRADA the local Association for the last 40 years for help, the chances are that some metal finds would have surfaced. Other nearby local fiel...

Re: Adam & Lisa - the Norman Hoard

Somerset has yielded some exception finds in the past including "Alfred`s Jewel".

Taunton Museum is worth a visit when traveling to Devon and Cornwall, as they hold 2 massive famous Roman coin hoards.

Re: Adam & Lisa - the Norman Hoard

The times WHRADA have done Chew Valley area over the years.

Watching earlier TV Lisa said a guy brought her a coin for ID which she did and the rest is history.

That being the case others must be in for a share.

Good luck to them as they are dedicated detectorists.

Jerry.

Re: Metal detectorist is set to make a small fortune

I found a small copper penny a while back that an American paid out $18,000 to acquire it.

Not a fortune, the term used by the Daily Mail for this Roman Gold coin.

The papers love to make a sensation with detectorists finds.
