what camera are you using mate?
just a few tips.....
use a tripod
use the flash
use the timer - reduces camera shake if using a tripod
use a shutter release cable - see above reason
crop your finished image to required size.

Not sure what you mean by 'getting it small enough' Do you mean getting the image small enough to print on an A4 size page on your printer to the 'actual' size of the coin? You may have to resize the image and then select the 'print to original size' on your printer? :g43:

Go to Paint (not paint 3D). select your image. Go to 'resize' and alter the percentage from 100 to whatever size you want (say 10 or 15) and save.

As Beaumont has said, use PAINT on your computer, that is what it is for, your printer can only print on your chosen size of paper.

If it is any consolation we all get a tad confused at times.

I get what you are all saying, but the problem i have is i resized the image in paint to the original coin site, and saved it but when it comes to printing it there is no option to print original size, if you want to print on A4 the coin comes out that size to fill the page. thanks.

Open image in Paint.
Click File tab & hover over "Print".
Select Page set up.
Choose orientation.
Choose A4 paper.
Scaling move "dot" to Adjust too.
That will give you an outline in the print settings that shows the image area in grey on the white background to scale.

Think that should do it......
